Rodrigues is a small island, measuring 18m long, however, this presents a perfect opportunity of many different walks. The numerous paths are used by the locals and it is recommended to walk with a cell phone in case, as there is signal around most of the island. Scuba diving is also a popular activity here, with the summer months being the best times. The coral reefs and marine life found here is some of the most beautiful in the world, and there are many caves, canyons and tunnels to explore.

Rodrigues Island is home to many different and endemic species of fauna and flora. Many of these were close to being extinct during its colonisation, but through the efforts of the local government and reserves, these are being cultivated and numbers are climbing. Some of the endemic species that can be found here include the Rodrigues fruit bat, Rodrigues fody and Rodrigues warbler, and the Rodrigues aloe.

Ile aux Chats, Hermitage Island, Ile aux Cocos and Ile aux Sables are all nearby islands that present the opportunity to explore the small islets and go on an adventure. Hermitage Islands is rumoured to have buried treasure somewhere. For the keen birders, it is an opportunity to observe the thousands of sea birds that choose to nest here. The islands are all an easy day trip around the main island of Rodrigues.
