No trip to Madagascar is complete without seeing the many types of lemurs that inhabit the island. This tour takes you to five different reserves to see these beautiful primates, as well as photographic opportunities along the famous Allée des Baobabs (Avenue of the Baobabs).

DAY 1
ARRIVAL
Guests are welcomed on arrival by their guide in Antananarivo and transferred to their hotel for the night. The Palissandre Hotel is located on the slope of the hillside in the heart of the city. La Table des Hautes Terres Restaurant serves both European and local food.

DAY 2
ANTANANARIVO – KIRINDY
Guests are transferred to the airport for a scheduled flight to Morondava, where they will be met by the guide for the long drive. The drive to Kirindy goes through the famous Allée des Baobabs.

Kirindy Nature Reserve is a private reserve with one of the most endangered eco-systems, and home to the giant jumper rat and fosa. Several species of lemurs can be spotted, along with a number of endemic flora. Guest can go on an evening walk to see the active night wildlife.

DAY 3
KIRINDY – MORONDAVA
After breakfast, guests can walk through the Kirindy Nature Reserve, exploring the fauna and flora by day. Lunch is at a camp site (for own account), before heading back to Morondava. Guests will again pass by the Allée des Baobabs, this time in the late afternoon light, presenting great photographic opportunities, before heading to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 4
MORONDAVA – ANDASIBE MORONDAVA – ANDASIBE
After breakfast, guests are transferred to the airport for a flight back to Antananarivo, where they are welcomed by the guide and depart for Andasibe. The drive takes guests out of the Highlands, through the Escarpment of Mandraka, characterised by the lush vegetation. Guests arrive in Andasibe later afternoon, and then go for a night walk in the Mitsinjo Communitary Reserve (depending on domestic flight schedule).

DAY 5
ANALAMAZAOTRA NATIONAL PARK AND VAKONA RESERVE
Today guests will join a local guide to explore the Analamazaotra National Park. The rain forest is home to many rare and endemic animal species, along with a number of different lemurs. Guests can look out for the indri, the largest lemur, the grey bamboo lemur, woolly lemur, to name a few. The reserve also grows a number of medicinal plants here. Lunch can be enjoyed in the reserve (own account) before going back to the hotel. In the Vakona Reserve, guests can explore the crocodile park, and Lemur Island, which has habituated lemur species, including the Bamboo Lemur, Black and White Ruffed Lemur, Brown Lemur and Diademed Sifaka.

DAY 6
ANDASIBE – ANKANIN’NY NOFY
After breakfast, the tour continues east towards Brickaville, where the roads can become rough through to the edge of Rasoabe Lake. Guest board a boat which takes them on the Channel of Pangalanes, arriving in Ankanin’ny Nofy in the afternoon. The hotel is situated on the edge of the lagoon, on which the other side is the ocean.

DAY 7
ANKANIN’NY NOFY
Today guests will spend the morning discovering the Palmarium Reserve and meeting the Malagasy wildlife. The Palmarium Reserve is home to about 10 species of lemurs: Indri-indri, Sifaka, crowned lemur, black and white ruffed- lemur, brown lemur, and the aye-aye along with some amazing flora including orchids, carnivorous plants, ebony, mahogany, travellers’ palm (Madagascar’s rare and most common palm). The afternoon is spent at leisure.

DAY 8
ANKANIN’NY NOFY – ANTANANARIVO
Guests depart the hotel after breakfast and board a boat to cross the Pangalanes Channel to Manambato. On the other side, a vehicle will collect them and travel through the highlands to Antananarivo, arriving at the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner can be enjoyed at the hotel restaurant.

DAY 9
DEPARTURE
After breakfast, guests are transferred to the international airport where the tour ends.
