Travel With a Difference

A 10-day bush and beach combo designed to help you unwind! The tour starts at Maputo airport where clients will be transferred to their lodge at the Kruger National Park, South Africa. Game drives and nature will make sure relaxation is a priority. Clients are then transferred to Maputo for a night in the mother city of Mozambique! They fly out to Nuarro Lodge the next day.

Day 1
ARRIVAL
Guests arrive at Maputo International Airport and are transferred by road across the border to South Africa (visas by own arrangement and own account).
Shishangeni Lodge is situated on a 15 000 hectare private concession within the world- renowned Kruger National Park, which offers some of the finest ‘Big 5’ game viewing on the continent.

Guests can enjoy their meals at the lodge restaurant or experience dinner around the boma under the African sky.

Day 2
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
At Shishangeni Lodge, guests can book game drives or spa treatments directly with the lodge and experience magnificent sunsets, all manner of wildlife at the watering hole.

Early morning or late afternoon game drives in search of the ‘Big 5’ with an expert guide, a pampering at the spa, a splash in the pool, sundowners in the bush and endless photo opportunities.

Day 3
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Shishangeni Lodge has many activities for you to enjoy; you can embark on an early morning game drive with an expert guide.

The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and is best known for the ‘Big Five’ – imagine taking in a magnificent sunset whilst you capture the moment of a pride of lions stalking their prey or possibly watching a buffalo or elephant strolling to a water hole. The rhino, with its extraordinary horns and bad temper or the leopard with its remarkable speed and skill to hunt.

Evening game drives are equally exciting, as the nocturnal wildlife come out to hunt.

Day 4
MAPUTO
After enjoying breakfast, and a morning game drive (own account), guests are then transferred back across the border into Mozambique, and on to Maputo. Perched on top of the cliff looking down to the old city of Maputo, Cardoso hotel enjoys a wonderful spot – one of the best spots to watch the sunset.

Ask reception to suggest a restaurant in the city that will give you a taste of true Portuguese cuisine for dinner.

Day 5
NANATHA BAY
After breakfast, guests take a short drive to Maputo International Airport where they board a flight to Nacala International Airport (own account). On arrival, they then take a 2.5 hour road transfer to Nuarro Lodge.

Located in an idyllic, white-sand bay hugging the edge of the continental shelf, Nuarro Lodge offers spectacular world-class diving and snorkelling, backed by baobab-filled bush in peaceful isolation.

Guests can spend the following 4 days filling their time with one of the many activities available at the lodge, or they can simply relax in their ocean-facing cottage and sip cocktails while swinging in a hammock and watching whales pass by, or at the Beach Bar, overlooking the ocean.

Day 6-9
NANATHA BAY
There is a wide variety of activities available at Nuarro Lodge will keep guests of all ages as active or relaxed as they choose.

Nuarro Bay is a dream for snorkelling with a beautiful coral reef just a short swim from the beach and scuba diving is an underwater paradise. All equipment is available at the Nuarro Activity Centre.

The calm blue water and close drop off allow for spectacular sights of humpback whales during our winter, with the peak season in August and September, and guests can also listen to whales singing using a hydrophone.

Other activities include bird watching, mountain biking, dhow sailing, kayaking, board paddling and sunset cruises, to name a few.

The beach picnic is highly recommended where guests are taken by boat or road to one of the deserted beaches and enjoy a delicious picnic prepared by the chef of the restaurant at Nuarro.

The lodge also offers bush and night drives, taking guests on a thrilling 2 hour drive around the Nuarro reserve in an open Toyota Land Cruiser, discovering multitudes of amazing insects, animals and the splendour of healthy tree and plant species.

The night drive allows guests to find the illusive greater and lesser bush baby, as well as the civet and genet cats, all with an informative guide with knowledge about the Nuarro bush.

For guests that are more inclined to relax, they can visit Maria, the in-house Mozambican masseuse, who is from the local the village, and although she has no formal training, she has learnt her trade from many mentors. Guests can enjoy a relaxing back or full body massages under the trees on the beach, or in their room.

Dinners are enjoyed at the restaurant, with the freshest seafood delights available, prepared in both local and international styles.

Day 10
DEPARTURE
Guests enjoy a final breakfast at the lodge before they are transferred to Nacala International Airport for their onward arrangements.
